Review : Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip pencils/Lipstick

I'm sure by now many of you would have seen or heard about the NARS velvet lip pencils, they've been reviewed countless times and featured on youtube and on many beauty blogs. For a while now I've been going back and forth and deciding whether to fork out the money and buy one or not, as they are about $30 something here in Australia from Mecca Cosmetica. In comes Maybelline to save the day! I was wondering the isles in Woolies and of course I stumbled into the beauty/bath section and there they were with a sticker saying 'NEW'.
I almost collapsed when I saw they were only $9.99, so cheap! cheaper than most 'Drug store' lipsticks here in Australia. Looking at the price, and how the packaging looked somewhat similar to the NARS pencils I of course picked a few colours up and have been testing them out the past month and a half or so.
Now this will not be a comparison between the both as I have not tried the NARS pencils but this is my review on the pencils over all and what I think of them.

First up we have the colour Nude Perfection

I don't normally wear 'nudes' as I find they wash me out but I decided to give this one a try and I am so glad I did as it is perfect! The colour itself is opaque and it goes on creamy and smooth. If you don't normally wear nudes try this colour out, I think it would be flattering on a variety of skin tones.

The next colour I have is Fuchsia Desire

Fuchsia Desire is a neon hot pink, it's stunning, vibrant and bold. If you love pinks this is a must have!! it's just so flattering.

The second to last colour is Fab Orange

Fab Orange is a vibrant red-orange that pops on yellow toned skin and gives your skin a gorgeous glow. It makes my lips look voluptuous and looks flattering with a simple winged liner.

Finally the last colour is Berry Much

Berry Much is my favourite out of the four, it is a beautiful berry-plum that I have been wearing non-stop and I have been getting countless compliments. It make my teeth look very white and it's perfect for the cooler months ahead here in Aus,

These pencils make my lips feel hydrated, however I would not say the pencils are a velvet finish, they are more of a satin finish. They do last about 4-6 hours on my lips unless I am drinking or eating then they will obviously rub off unfortunately but as they are in pencil form they are easy to pop in your handbag and touch up on the go.

My final rating is 4.5/5 the only downside being colour selection and longevity.
I will definitely be buying all the colours and I hope Maybelline comes out with more colours.

Life Update!

It's been a while since I have sat down to write/blog and to be honest I have missed it so much! It's been so many months since I last posted and I'm awfully sorry but I'll be updating more often now!

There's so much to update on but it's mostly personal so I shall just summarise and let you in on some of the more interesting things I've gotten up to!
First off for my 21st birthday last year at the end of July I ended up heading to Melbourne with a couple of my closest friends. I live in Sydney for those of you who don't know and I have never been down the south coast of Australia, I have wanted to go there for the longest time and I'll tell you now it was not a disappointment.
The thing that attracted me most to Melbourne was the Style and the little cafe's and restaurants available everywhere it seemed! I was only there for four days but it was enough for me to fall in love and I hope to visit again this year.

More recently in February I went to the One Direction concert and I'll let you know right now it was amazing! I had really amazing seats (which costed a fortune) I was just a few metres from the walkway! Mcbusted and Samantha Jade opened the show and both were amazing. As a fan of Busted and Mcfly I was super excited to rock out to some old songs and of course some new ones from their recently released album. I didn't get any pictures of them however as I was too busy dancing and singing along with my friends, I did however manage to get a few of one direction, however the girls got a bit wild at the concert and it was very hard even up close to get good pictures due to all the devices/hands in the air as well as the boys obviously dancing and singing!

I'll post some of the pictures below so you  can have a look.
I am definitely enjoying the direction (no pun intended!) their music is going in, it's got more of an alternative feel to it, Four is definitely my favourite album so far.

Well that's all for now but I'll be posting again very soon.
Missed you all,

Top 3 Mondays; Lipsticks

So while browsing through Zoellas blog recently and noticed that she has been doing little weekly blog posts about her "top 5" products and thought it was a really fun and interesting thing to do, just little blog posts between larger ones. So of course I have decided to incorporate this into my blog but instead of doing 5 products I will be doing my top 3! every week, so stay tuned!
If you haven't already seen her blog I definitely recommend that you go do so!

So to kick start this week's Top 3, we have Lipsticks!
If you haven't already noticed I have a slight addiction to lip products, especially lipsticks so narrowing it down to 3 was quite difficult but I decided to go with my top 3 most used lipsticks that I find myself always grabbing for.

(Left to Right; Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in '103', LimeCrime Lipstick in 'Poisonberry', Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in '107')

Okay, So first up we have my everyday favourite "nude" colour, this is my second tube of this lipstick as I use it so much. 103 is a pretty soft pink that's a sort of my lips but better colour, and when I'm not going for a bold lip this is what I will always wear. I really love the consistency of the Kate Moss lipsticks for Rimmel, especially the ones in the red tubes (Satin Matte's?) they last really well on the lips and just feel so smooth and not drying at all. (Can we mention that all Rimmel Lipsticks smell like lollies?!)
Definitely a good colour for a wide variety of skintones, I'd say anywhere from very fair skin to a medium skintone (I'm between an NC25 - NC30) any darker and the colour might seem a bit ashy.

Next up we have one of my all time favourites lipsticks, I am in absolute love with Limecrime's 'Poisonberry'! Its a beautiful metallic purple which fades on my lips to a beautiful fuchia that stains my lips and lasts for a very long time. I find myself using this colour a lot more now that it's winter here in Australia, it's not the typical colour most people would wear but I almost always get compliments whenever I wear it. If you're bored of your typical reds and hot pinks definitely give this a go.

And Finally we have my all time favourite Red, again from the Rimmel Kate Moss line. '107' is the most beautiful dark red lipstick I have ever worn, it just compliments my skin tone so well and looks so gorgeous, a definite twist on the classic red. I think this shade of red just looks amazing on everyone. It looks darker in the tube than on the lips, It looks like a deep berry red on my lips and does not bleed outside my lip line at all!. As I said above, I really love the consistency of these lipsticks!

So there you have it!
Don't be shy and leave me a comment on your favourite lipsticks or lip products! :)

5 Seconds of Summer - No Place like Home Tour (5th of May 2014)

So this post is way overdue!
I am so sorry!

On the 5th of May of this year I was lucky enough to go and see "our" boys live! This was my second time seeing them live as the first was at the One Direction concert last year. I was super excited to see them and although the night did not go to plan they sounded AMAZING, in my opinion they sound better live than on their CDs (They have an Album out right now, go check it out on iTunes!)
One thing I can definitely say is how proud I am of our 4 Aussie boys (who grew up basically 40 minutes away from where I live! How crazy is that?!). I remember stumbling upon videos of Luke's covers and then a year later finding them, and watching now all 4 boys singing and covering songs, never did I think that they would make it as big as they did (Not that they lacked the talent but it's just so hard to get into the business!) I also remember seeing their music videos for "Out of my Limit" and "Heartbreak Girl" and getting so excited and playing them over and over.

Not only we're 5SoS amazing but so were their opening acts Mike Dignam and Little Sea! :)
(Check them out!)

So here are some pictures and some small video clips for your enjoyment!
(Note* I did not get any videos of the 5SoS performance as I was too busy enjoying myself ! You gotta live in the moment! I did however get some awesome pictures of what I call Ashtons Drum Face!)

(This picture above is actually one of my fav pictures from the night even though all you see is hands and a bluured Luke because it was when he asked everyone to clap and I just think it was such a great moment to capture.)

(Who is going to the Australian 5SoS Rocks our Socks tour?!)

Mini Movie reviews; Noah & Divergent

This month has had lots of good movie releases and I've been at the cinema heaps.
I thought it might be nice to do a sort of mini movie review on the movies I've seen and let you know what I thought about them.

NOAH
I went in to watch Noah not knowing what to expect, I know the biblical story very well from when I did Scripture in primary school and its always stuck with me, so I was wondering how well they would stick to it considering its a 'Hollywood' version of it.
Overall the movie was good, it kept me entertained but it was over dramatized and of course diverged from the original story quite a bit, so if your looking for a movie version of the original story, this isn't it. I do think the special effects were good, especially the Fallen Angels/Rock things. Russell Crowe was really good in the Role of Noah, I don't, personally, usually like his acting but I really enjoyed his performance in this film. Emma Watson was of course amazing as usual and I really like that she's branching out since Harry Potter, her acting is just getting better and better! (She always looks amazing as well, she's definitely one of my style icons). It's not personally the type of movie I would buy on DVD and re watch but I would recommend it if your into that kind of movie.
3.5 / 5 stars from me (and my friend).

DIVERGENT

Oh boy! I was super excited for this movie, I'd read the books and was super excited when I read the movie was on its way! The movie was not a let down in comparison to other book-film series, it actually stuck pretty well to the book! I loved the actors/actresses chosen although I do admit it was a bit weird seeing Shailene Woodley as Tris and Ansel Elgort as her brother when they play lovers in the movie 'The Fault in our Stars' which is coming out soon, but other than that the movie was definitely one I would recommend going to see, it has all the elements, romance, comedy, action, suspense & drama!

5/5 stars from me!

Purple Lips : Purple Drama

Okay, for those of us who don't mind a full on look this ones for you!
Not only am I wearing a true purple on my lips but I am also pairing it with a strong eye look, I call this my Purple Drama look. It's perfect for a girls night out or for Prom / Formals if you want to stand out from  the crowd.
I am wearing the Australis 'Velour Lips Matte Lip Cream' in the colour 'TOK-I-O'
It's a beautiful true blue based purple that just stands out and makes your teeth look super duper white! I love the formula of the Australis matte lip creams as well, they're drying but they last for the longest time on your lips! Definitely check them out, they have them in a variety of shades, including a bubble gum pink and a red!
